AFAIK but I am not a Lawyer you can download your stuff if you bought it already.

There are some TOS things like buying things only good for X time and the like that supercedes this.

Amazon cannot know the future of OS's, this is not their fault.
That'd not true anymore. You're stuck with the way you bought it. If you bought it on DVD or Blu-ray, you can still get in trouble if you go downloading it on Pirate Bay.

This post is several months old but I experienced the same issue with Unbox when I migrated over to Win8/8.1. Here is post from the Amazon forums that solved the issue of getting it to work. All credit goes to T.A.Clark for solving the issue.
The original post can be found here:http://www.amazon.com/gp/help/custom...F7JZC&cdPage=2

Alright, I think I found a solution if you're still around Robert:

You're going to need this link:
http://drmlicense.one.microsoft.com/Indivsite/en/indivit.asp?force=1

You'll need to run it in Internet Explorer; it won't work in Chrome or Firefox. You'll also need to make sure and run Internet Explorer as an Administrator or the tool will give you an error instead of doing what you need it to. You can do that by right-clicking the IE charm on the Start screen (not desktop view) in Windows 8 and selecting the option to run as administrator on the bottom bar.
Run the tool at that link in the IE window you opened, and it should fix the issue after it completes (make sure and allow any system changes it tries, you might get 1 or 2 notices from Windows). Try Unbox again afterward and see if it works.

It seems to have just been a DRM issue causing the problem after a Windows 8 upgrade. It's likely that the user in Jonathan's post never noticed it because he/she had an OEM or clean install of Windows 8, but this is going to be very common for people who are doing a direct upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 8 and are trying to get Unbox to work afterward. The more frustrating part of it is that it doesn't actually LOOK like a DRM problem when you're trying to get it to work...old videos played just fine, and the main issue was with downloading new videos rather than playing them.

I'm able to download again after doing this fix, but Unbox does still have an issue in the Troubleshooter where the notification service doesn't work on Windows 8...it just doesn't seem like that's the cause of, well, anything oddly enough. Either way, this DRM fix seems to correct the download problem.

Good luck, I hope this fixes the problem for anyone else having the issue.

That's cool that you found an actual working link from Amazon. I didn't know one was still around on their site. I actually saved the .exe from past installs because it was so difficult to find.
Here is the actual link for anyone interested. I checked it out and it is the Unbox software.

I'm using CyberGhost as a free VPN to download my (paid for) movie from outside the US via Amazon Unbox. It works fine, but it is quite slow (200kbps). However, I found that if you kick off the download with CyberGhost running and then once the download is running, you exit CyberGhost then you get a fast download speed (determined by your ISP and not throttled by the VPN). Even though my IP address is no longer in the US...

I figured I'd put that down even though it is a bit off topic...

Amazing what one has to do if you want to do the right thing and PAY for movies - so much easier to torrent. In South Africa the only way to get Breaking Bad legally is to order the DVD to be posted to you from USA!

Yeah, I had got them to send me a link to download the last version of Unbox, but I'm still left with a sour taste. There are a few episodes of a TV show I can't watch on my PC (eg: too many computers were registered with my Amazon account with the Unbox player - apparently, I should have uninstalled the program before reformats (which is kind of annoying and bs - who remembers to uninstall programs before reformatting a computer?)). I could probably get them to reset the counter, but they weren't really things I was going to watch again anyway and from now on, I'll refrain from buying any DRM-protected digital videos. It's just not worth the hassle

Unfortunately I could never dream of downloading anything in HD - our internet is way too slow and expensive. We use satellite internet. One work around is to download at my office between 1am and 6am when we have unlimited free internet - but I need to find some way to schedule Unbox to open and start downloading at that time... any ideas (must I post that question under "Software for Windows"?).
