Thanking your references?

I got a job offere yesterday, which I accepted. I asked him casually how many refereces he called. He said he called 3 or 4. I gave him 4 references. I want to email all these people and thank them. But how do I figure out whom he called and whom he didn't. I asked him that, but he took the conversation in another direction.

Just thank them for their offer as being a reference.
