As someone who interviewed a few too many people last year, I will tell you I don't give a damn about cover letters or thank you notes.

A funny thing is that I've never received a job offer from any interview that I sent a thank you letter for, so I stopped sending them and let my headhunter do the schmoozing for me. It almost seems like I get an offer faster if I appear to be LESS interested in the job... which makes no sense.

As a recruiter, I hated follow up phone calls but notes were always nice. Include a compliment to get their notice - "I really appreciated your insightful questions and how they allowed me to demonstrate my fit for the job."

Hint: If you had a recruiting assistant or coordinator set up the interview for you, send them a note too. They don't get nearly as many notes and they will often show them to the recruiter while exclaiming how nice you are, getting your name noticed, and also pin them to their office wall, also keeping your name noticed and recognized.

Interview on a Friday morning. Decision is with two people who must confer (I assume), so a Saturday email will do nothing until Monday. An afternoon Friday email might be missed or ignored. A mid-day Friday email seems too soon. What say you ATOT?

Hey big daddy,
Thanks for letting me show off my mad skills.
holla back

please note: this only works if your interview was with a pimp or strip club owner

I seriously considered doing this with the last interview I went to two weeks ago, but decided against it. There were two interviewers, and they were supposedly hiring 15+ people, so an assload of interviewees. And it still felt like it'd be two tackee and desperate.

Also, both interviewers were men, who looked like they would kick-ass and chew bubblegum if called upon. So, I probably made the right call.
