So now I really dont care about Voltage on my Corsair Value select 400 because i dont really need to overclock it anymore because a divider keeping my RAM around 200 HTT doesn't really effect my vids anyway? Sweet. After reading tons of forums, it looks like the single most benifit to my comp in gaming singlehandedly falls on Vid card. agreed?

MSI neo 4-F
venice 3200 @ 2500 (xp-90c panaflow)
MSI 6600gt
2 GIGS Corsair VS ddr 400 (Timings stock @ 2T)
4 Maxtor 250 (16Meg cache)s (NOT RAIDED...I'm crazy like that...Lots of POR...I mean Music)
Win xp (Media Center- same as pro I hear)
500 watt Rosewill PS with 26A on +12v line! <---Awesome
19 CRT
Every game is like butter, I think the 16 meg cache on the HD's makes a world of differance. They hardley EVER get accessed during my game play after a map loads up. I noticed on friends systems, that most of thier "lag" was in diirect porportion to seeing thier hard drive light blinking..almost EVERY time! I play games using TEAMSPEAK and if My lil uber system 'LAGS" I can verify that it is server side beacuse everybody on TS will say, "Did you guys just lag?' Meanwhile when they ask If I just lagged I get the pleasure of saying 'Naw'
You gamers out there really should check out these drives man..forget about raiding RAPTORS seriously. My roomate just got one and I beat him into every map every time and he's pissed.
Benchmarking: I've uninstalled everything...It's all pointless now for gaming, all I care about is FPS never droping below 30FPS beacause thats what a televisions FPS is. The 6600GT does great and I dont need to run games at 34,976 x 23098 or whatever because the text gets to small anyway and so does my targeting recticle when Im aiming for your HEAD!

Thx all you guys for all your posts which I swear ive read them all while keeping my mouth shut and I am VERY VERY happy now.
For a gaming rig I swear...keep it simple and I newegged the WHOLE system for 1600$ from scratch including speakers and joystick and keep in mind that in November of 2004, I didn't evan know what FSB was!
All I origianlly did was goto ALIENWARE price out every single part of one of thier 3000$ systems then newegged every part. then I hardocp'd reviews and backed things off to fit my (at the time 1200$) budget. Then I discovered this forum and all 'the others' and just read Zebo and 1.6 Million Posts LOL.
You guys do a great service to us lil nerds who are still growing but are shy as you can tell from my whopping 20+ posts but I thank you all.

Bye and good luck...thanks ZEBO even though you don't know me (and L3p3r and others)

Battlefield 2 June 23rd Yay!

(I tried convincing 1 of my friends to build from scratch and learn...He eventually pussed out and bought a gaming rig for $2500 ---INTEL chip LOL..what a n00b)

I'd say see what you can possible do with those RAM timings before you call it a day.

Try and see if you can get 1T (unless you're running 4 sticks in which case it might be unless you run it at 333mhz you can't get 1T but you may be able to do better than that) and improve the timings - run a divider and be happy to run a lower divider if it allows you lower timings (as our guru Zebo🙂). Be happy to go as low as 180mhz for those tighter timings. You'd be surprised was RAM can do once you feed it a bit of voltage - try not to go past 2.8V to stay in warranty I think. (My CAS 3-3-3 Value Crucial RAM does 2.5-2-2 all the way upto 218mhz at 2.8V)

You might be able to have even less lag 😉

Maybe over time you'll end up tweaking and overclocking you rig that little bit more including your graphics card for that elsuive extra 10% or something performance... (become a true geek...!)

with that rig you shouldnt be worried about FPS going below 30, you should be worried about them going below 60

With that venice chips you should be able to handle 4 sticks of ram at 400mhz 1T. Try setting the ram to that, it might give you another fps. 😀

Nice job on your first build. :cookie:

My first build was a 286-12 with 4 MB of RAM. I must have gone through 9 or 10 generations since then. This is my second OC. It's always fun every time I do it - it is a true fetish. Welcome to the club.

Thats the way I began, too. Oh... those jumper, days... 5v core voltages, and all.

Spending 8 or 10 hours dialing ram timings is not nerdy! Or geeky! It's...professional! 😀

Professional!?!? I'd say you don't know your stuff if it takes you that long. 😉

Spending that long is what it takes if you do exhasustive memtest and prime to back up your newfound LL and OC, especially with todays crop of finicky high voltage ram... 🙂

Oh, since your including OC in that timeframe, now it makes sense why it takes so long. I thought you meant it took you 8-10 hours just to set ram timings. My mistake, lol

as long as it don't blink 🙂

ok 1T and my system is 8 hours Desert Combat stable! all I care about right now.
Ima pull a 24 hour session in DC this weekend with lots of cigs and red bull. look me up name is CHOPPER GOD if you guys play 😀
