It's sorta like Vader throwing the Emperor down the shaft after a life of murder and evil.

Thank him for what, defending the constitution one fucking time after 4 years of holding Trumps hand while Trump wiped his ass with it.

At best it might be a talking point about his character during the sentencing phase of the his trial after his conviction for treason.

I've heard that declaring the 25th might not help much given the short time frame, unfortunately. If Trump objected at all (and he would) the delay would be enough that he'd leave office normally regardless.

He aided and abetted and defended a horrible want-to-be autocrat for 4+ years.
He did little to nothing while the nation/world was under a pandemic.

He doesn't get to fan the flames, stoke the fire and pour gasoline for nearly 1,500 days then with 14 days left decide to "do something good". Not to mention he had ZERO other choice.

He gets no thanks. He is awarded no points and may (his) God have mercy on his soul.

The chance for Republicans to disavow Trump came early in 2020. For Impeachment landed on their desks. They objected and stood by their monster.

Republicans ARE Trump, never forget, never forgive. They would do it all again at next available opportunity.

Those FEW with a conscience can join Biden in the center while the rest of us push on ahead to make positive change for the American people.

Well, fuck, what the hell am I supposed to do?

We cant kill em. And I dont mean in any moral sense either, I mean its physically impossible to kill half the nation. And they refuse to wise up and use reason over belief. And counter-brain washing doesnt seem to work.
So, what now?

So much this. We KNEW for 40+ years that Trump was a HORRIBLE human being. All politics and policies aside, he was not fit to hold the office of POTUS. I said this repeatedly to my GOP friends in 2015 (who agreed with me) and asked what they would do if he got the nomination. Yet they still voted for Trump because "Hillary". Many of them did regret it shortly after (and some took longer) but honestly, if they couldn't see the writing on the wall when they cast their vote, they are dumber than I thought.

I think "never forget, never forgive" means two things.
  1. Hold them accountable.
  2. Don't let your guard down.
A good portion of them have coalesced into a new religion. Formed via social media. Trump may be finished, but the Alt-Reality bubble isn't going away.

As of 2020 I realized the consequence of the alt-reality, by its mere existence, is violent conflict. Because now I realize the cry of "fake news" ultimately results in refusing consent. Of claiming fake news, fake votes, fake Democracy. They object to our Democracy and are acting to overthrow it. They think the 2020 election was a "coup" and they want to perform their own coup to stop "you".

Understand? Members of the alt-reality, those in the bubble, want to overthrow our government.

What you saw on Jan 6th was a disorganized mob. But the sentiment is real, and sooner or later it will form organized units. Terror cells. They will act towards this end. And their efforts will become better at achieving their goal. Unless they are stopped. By some form of expert diplomacy - or by considerable force.

"You" do nothing. "We" have a lot to consider with regards to the future of our nation. The first act of diplomacy must be election reform. They think voting is fake. There are concerns with the mail-in measures and with electronic voting. Both practices must end. We need in person paper ballots for 2024, if not 2022. We must make that concession to them or be prepared for their violence. If it is not already too late.

So change procedures and law in order to appease their un-reality? What about those unable to stand in line at polling places, etc.?
I disagree, and see it as appeasement that none of them deserve. The system works, as has been shown in the 2020 national election. Why fix what only ~30% of Americans believe to be broke because they refuse to work with facts instead of feels?

With the WH, Senate and House, you're in a position to make some big changes. Possibilities include:

Expand the SCOTUS
Progressive cabinet
Reveal dark money
Expand medicare, extend it for all
Pass legislation to prevent the kind of abuses of power that Trump reveled in
Tax the rich goddamit

john lewis voting rights act (and because i don't know what's in it, further expand protections as needed)
consent decrees on states with history of voter suppression and those that resumed it recently
no state pre-emption for municipal broadband
limit on presidential pardons - or removing it altogether
defining/clarifying impeachable offenses

i'm sure there's a very long list we could come up with if we looked over the last 4 years of fuckups and abuses
