I know it says federal biggun... I seem to remember the FEDERAL gov't taking action against other Religous issues. If this is taken to the courts once again the Courts will try and legislate from the bench which is getting all to common and this will be overturned and everyone will go back to work or just use a sick day.

I'm saying the ACLU just got some new homework as muslims, buddists, jews, and athiests alike don't see this as fair and take offense to this.

my example My father works for the largest issuer of home and car insurance in the US his office which has not much to do with making any sort of money on the 26th has it's floating holiday stripped do to complaining by non-Christians looking for something to complain about. Bottom line alot of people just take comp time and are gone anyway it doesn't change anything except for the complainers got everyone 1 less day off .

Many people think this statement appears in the first amendment of the U.S. Constitution and therefore must be strictly enforced. However, the words: "separation", "church", and "state" do not even appear in the first amendment. The first amendment reads, "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof..." The statement about a wall of separation between church and state was made in a letter on January 1, 1802, by Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist Association of Connecticut.

So there is no "Seperation of Church and State" in our Constitution.

Question: Suppose the pendulum were to swing the other way for a while and holidays based on non-Christian religions were added to the calendar. How would you feel abou that?

There is no way I can know how many there are that axe the day off before/after Christmas but I'm certain it isn't just my fathers.

I'm just personally pissed cause ACLU types have effected me personally this year. Since the holiday at my father's work is gone he and the other fellow he works with had to each take thanksgiving or Christmas off. Since he was off for thanksgiving Christmas is now not an option for him to take off. They are going to try and make the 26th a regular business day there even though a majority yes majority of people are pissed a few ruined the day off for everyone.

So am I selfish? sure I want my kids to see thier grand daddy. Do I begrudge you the day off no way go enjoy in any way you choose!

My only real point is that profits are driving this stuff for the most part. Maybe this is different at your dad's place of employment, but you're trying to make it out to be some kind of widespread conspiracy. In case you hadn't noticed, our current Prez panders to the Christian right like no one before him. You think Christianity is under attack while the rest of us think it's being rammed down our throats.
