What a load of crap... Bastards

Been on hold waiting for Vonage Tech Support for almost 20 mins now, the longest i ever waited was about 2 hours for gateway back in the day...

Whats the longest you've ever waited on hold?

Three times two weeks ago I held for 45 minutes with PNY and was suddenly disconnected.

But I held once for over two hours. I think it was for something for my DSL.

i don't call tech support

Im trying to figure out why people on the other end say i sound like im at the end of a tunnel.

Also, i want to see if there is a way to get vonage to work with my guard gate.

Being in a computer-repair business, I've had to call tech support a good many a time (usually just to order certain components or check warranties). I think the longest I've waited on hold/redirect loop was 50 minutes.

Welcome to Perma-hold. Your wait will be long. Thank you for continuing to hold. Don't press any buttons, or you will automatically be moved to the last place in the queue.

Edit: I work in a hospital, and one of the ladies that makes calls to arrange insurance benefits for patients coming in the next day was on hold once for something like 5 and a half hours.

But your call is important to them! They said so!

It's so important, they don't care that you have to hold for an eternity.

Try searching around for graphs of when calls come in during the day, call when they're least busy

Long time ago I did this,

Speakerphone with mute is your friend!

How does that work if you mute?

You're using speakerphone, you can hear what's on the line from the comfort of relaxation. You can talk or watch TV without worrying because the mute prevents your sound from going over the line. Once someone picks up your call, you unmute and pickup.

have you tried changing the quality of your codec?

Sometimes I have trouble pressing numbers if I have the quality set on medium.

when att screwed up with it's number portability process, i'd been on hold for close to an hour on three separate calls, and 20-30 minutes onother calls, trying to get my number out of att and into t-mobile.... boy that sucked

What he said.

When I first got my phone from SprintPCS, I would normally wait at least a good hour before I could talk to someone. Usually by that time of the day I had already made a couple phone calls and my battery would be almost dead. The thing that angered me the most was that they would not give out a toll free number that I could call them back on since my battery was almost to die. They said they could call me back on a landline. WTF if I don't have one? SprintPCS sucks.

alas, i use a cell phone, so i go the headset/mute method

i rarely need to go on hold, but when i do (calling cable company for service installation, activation stuff) i go that method. The longest i've had to hold was 1.5 hours, but the company had a system where you leave your number/name and they call you back, since i was on a cellphone i ran out and did errands, they called me later that day while i was on my way home 🙂
