Do you guys do thank you emails for just simple questions?

I'm not talking about post-interview-thank-you-emails or anything, but the simple ones to support, professors, etc etc

e.g.

Me: *simple request*
Support: "we've changed the blah blah to what you asked for"

or

Me: "Professor, the due date on this HW says Thursday, but you put the 26th"
Professor: "It's due the 26th"

I usually want to send an email right back with a thank you, but I usually don't because I know that these accounts for a lot of emails per day and it seems like clogging them up with thank you emails is unnecessary.

I send thank you emails to personal accounts usually, but I don't for large corporate support accounts, administration accounts, professors, and the like.

You guys do the same?

Well, mostly just wondering if I'm the only one who does it. It always seemed rude not to send a thank you back.

edit: guess this is what happens when the question goes before the preface..

no because my original email would already have a thank you as a closer... plus I don't want them to send me an email with "you're welcome"

edit: For example in your cases:

Me: *simple request* Thanks

Me: "Professor, the due date on this HW says Thursday, but you put the 26th. Please clarify. Thanks"

Dear Gwai Lo,

Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to post this thread. Before encountering this thread, my day was dull and lifeless. Now my day is full of sunshine and zing! :music:

In closing, thanks again for sharing your boundless knowledge and razor-sharp wit with us. Have a great day!

i do, it serves as both an acknowledgment of receipt as well as a nice gesture to keep the business relationship friendly.

I don't, but I know my boss does a quick "Thanks <name>" just so people know he actually read the thing.

Whenever someone replies to me with a 'thanks', out of retribution for the harassment, I usually sign them up to all of the porn mailing lists I can find.
