after getting advice from this forum on where to buy hardware i use newegg. got my hardware tues. and putting
my computer together now
hardware from newegg
xp2000 cpu
liteon 40x cdr
msi kt3 ultra aru
msi ti200 128mg
256mr ddr 2700 cru.
cpu fan from computer store close by
had to get asus 52x from another online vendor new was out paid $16 more
will give update on system

ok first problem harddrive bad wd80g (smartdisk fail) had problem with this harddrive in last system.
replaced with another wd80g and now can install win xp

got winxp install systems seems to be fine can anyone help with dma in winxp
had a problem with the usb downdloaded 1.1 and 2.2 drivers working ok now

Sounds good, Mike! Excellent vendor- I do high four-figure business (guess that really doesn't say much) with them annually. Oh, and if for some reason they happen to be out of stock of something (unfortunately this is a somewhat often occurance), use www.mwave.com.

thank you amdskip for the tip on dma
system is running nice small problem with on broad sound will get soundcard anyway so no big deal
played quake3 for about a hour no hangup or lockup
3dmark sore is 8108 so far

I remember when I put my first computer together with advice from anandtech. It was a 300A celery o/c'd of course.
