Thank you, America!

As a Sri Lankan and Indian by heritage - I'm half of each - it warms my heart to know that my homeland, the United States of America, has once again shown itself to be one of the biggest contributors, if not the biggest contributer (yes, Japan has given more for this, but I'm speaking about overall efforts throughout history) to relief efforts throughout recent history. Having felt so disconnected from this country for the past few years, as it has made foreign policy decisions and domestic behaviors that I fundamentally disagree with, I'm glad to catch a glimpse of the America that I knew.

Thanks!

Despite the American government's apparent shortcomings in this tragedy to date (although I distrust the media's play on it all), the American people in general will donate more than any other nation I think when it's all said and done. From businesses to individual contributions, I think that the "average" American will contribute huge sums of resources for this.

You are right, and Americans, despite what I sometimes see as misguided ignorance, still are very feeling and caring people. More so than Europeans, hands down.

I know. Not only that, but their dicks are larger, and their farts smell of fresh flowers.

Not to go OT in your thread, but I decided to look around and see if I could find a number as to how big the private donations have been.

Just went to Amazon's Red Cross Disaster Relief site and found this number:

Total Collected: US $12,412,372.25
# of Payments: 153841

If my calculations are correct, that's over $80 a person....from one site. Wow.
