"Frohnmayer said the Big East will retain its spot in the BCS despite losing football powerhouse Miami as well as Virginia Tech and Boston College." bwahahah now West Virginia and Syracuse will duke it out every year for a trip to a BCS Bowl in the Big East! Whoohoooooooo! Go Mountaineers... meanwhile, VT and Miami will be lucky to make a BCS bowl, I bet they're kicking themselves in the asses right now

They're also adding a 5th BCS bid for smaller conf's too!

That's not a given... Big East gets Louisville and Uconn in 2005, they won't be pushovers. Also, who cares if you win or lose a BCS Bowl as long as you make it... yes, it'd be nice to win, but you still get to go to Pasadena, Tempe, Miami, or New Orleans almost every year. The Bowl experience is more about hangin out with alumn/college buds and having a great time in a warm, sunny place supporting your team. If your team wins, it's icing on the cake IMO.

I dunno... with NC State, UMD, UVA, and FSU nobody is a lock to win it all... FSU has great, if not better, recruiting than Miami. I guess we'll all find out for the first game of the season when FSU vs Miami, winner probably gets BCS bid!

They voted for a 5th bowl, not a sixth. By keeping the Big East in the BCS, they bought out dissenting votes.

Bribery works.

Woops, edited to 5th not 6th. Yes, I bet Tranghese (Big East Prez) was planning this all along, and of course he's not going to let his conference die.

How can you say anything about UConn football?

The Big East can keep their status by arranging tougher RPI (more out of conference road games). Best of luck, and by the way, there should be a law on the books in WV that says WVU and Marshall must play every year.

I've heard that UConn will get decent recruiting, look at their bball program. Also, look at their record last year... their only losses were to tough schools: VT, NC State, BC. They only lost to NC State by a TD, too. They have a brand new 91mil stadium, on top of this, and their campus isn't that bad.

Check this out for more info on UConn football. I'll let you make the decision.

Yeah, I've heard the arguments before for Marshall/WVU, but Marshall wants WVU to come their stadium and only pay out $400,000... Marshall's stadium holds like 30-35K, so it's not really worth it to WVU to travel there. It's all about $$, and the two can't reach a happy medium. Plus, WVU doesn't want to risk being upset by someone in the MAC, especially someone with a way lower RPI (any given Sunday). Those are the two main reasons, among others.

Which SU will be doing this year as they play FSU, Iowa and Virginia all OOC. If they can win 1 on of those, they stand a good chance of making the BCS.

On top of that teams that go to bowls get National exposure which will help in recruiting better players.

The ACC is now a strong football conference (in addition to already being the best basketball conference). :D

When Miami beats FSU opening game this season it will be 6 times straight, nobody has ever beat FSU 6 times in a row during the Bowden era...
the rest of the teams you mentioned, although good teams, dont stand a chance against Miami...
