I have no idea what mercury was thinking...but the 2004 mercury maurder is the last year for these ugly mofos.

On a different note i cant wait to see the new GTOs.....now if buick only decided to bring back the grand nationals.

You like the new GTO and think that the Marauder was ugly? That last line of your sig must really be accurate.

One of the car mags (MT or C&D) had a mod that made it perform pretty well.

Link to the article? I've heard rumours of this, but nothing confirmed.

Yah, but Marauder will always be known as a massive tank from the late 60's and early 70s.

Besides they put a 442 (naw, that's a pontiac engine)...a 429 in it.

My Dad's got one on Bricks right now from lthe 1969 he's going to restore.

It's an absolute tank, and has ugly curves...but got one nice engine in it.

GTO looks like a Monte Carlo

Maurader looks like a Lincold Town Car

Neither are special, IMO.

It was kind of pointless considering the engine in it now is going into the 2004 Crown Victorias, therefore making the Marauder overpriced. If they dropped the '03 Cobra engine in the Marauder, that'd be a pretty fat car.

No kidding. I'd MUCH rather have a nondescript, little Japanese coupe.

Ford blew it when the downsized the car to the point where they couldn't put a decent engine in it. Serves 'em right for following the whims of our econobox loving consumers.

Lol it looks just like the grand marquis and crown vic.......

"We've replace their usual grand marquis with a highly overpriced yet nearly identical marauder....lets see if they notice."

You mean, rather than the whim of the minority that still wants these big ugly boats?

Uh do you not know anything? A Marauder is a Grand Marquis/Crown Vic

Dude... the Maruader is huge. If it were the size of 60s boats it would be freaking huge, like longer than a Suburban. How is that practical? What does that have to do with engine size??? Last time I checked, a V8 was the same length as an I4, and being RWD there is plenty of room under that massive hood.

Wow really!?! Christ man of course they're the same but should still expect some differences in the models. It has an insanely jacked up price and it looks practically identical. Other manufactueres would give different shaped body panels, maybe a vent on the hood, somehting like that. Same car but you can make them look a little more different than new wheels and dual exhaust.

I really liked the car when it came out until I read the reviews. It just never measured up the the hype. The engine, however beefy, wasn't enough for the heavy chassis, the suspension was mush and the seats had NO bolsters making the curves a slide around the cabin routine.

I would, however, like to try out their concept convertible

Half of vehicles sold are SUVs or trucks, rather than econoboxes. Half the people in this country aren't sold on that crap! And all the people in their little sh|tboxes constantly complain about the possiblity of getting killed by the larger vehicles. Fear this!

It's a freakin' toy! No room under the hood for anything but the wimpy 4.6L. Screw that. Ford makes monster engines that would be perfect, but they won't fit! Pot hole filled American roads, and wide open freeways are best navigated in a FULL SIZED car. This thing barely even fills the bill at that! Pathetic...

That's quite odd. 4.6L of displacement could make hundreds of lb-ft of torque.

Nissan's 4.5 makes like 350hp doesn't it?
