I thought I was going to get a Acer but decided not to because it didn't seem like they stood behind their laptops to well. Maybe ok but they just didn't seem to have fast enough repair time and no onsite warranties
A onsite warranty is a must for a laptop to me. If I could build my own laptop or fix everything that could go wrong then I don't think I would care to much about the onsite warranty. Thats the nicest thing about desktops sense you can build them yourself and basically fix most things yourself except of course a bad motherboard or any other piece of hardware. Of course you have to exchange that. No other way around it. i just don't want to have to wait 2 weeks to 1 month + for my laptop to be repaired if something goes wrong which will happen sense it seems that laptops are prone to break even if its nothing serious. Though it always could be. Nice to have a peace of mind that the laptop company you are going with will stand behind their product and are there for you with no recording on the other end of the phone.
I still like Acers don't get me wrong because I know that Acers come with a lot of features for the price but if they break it seems like you could be in trouble maybe depending on what breaks of course. Then they may not fix it the first time you send it out and its returned.
So far I am enjoying my ibm thinkpad a lot and hope ibm gives me a lot of great service for years to come. I also did research where its always best to buy a laptop directly from the company so if you want a ibm, hp, gateway, dell, etc and you can buy directly from the company do it because there is no middle man to deal with if any problems arise. Which is pretty true and very smart. With Acer you can't buy directly which could be a disadvantage and no onsite with laptops which sucks.
I am hoping I made the right chose and if I didn't oh well I have a good 30 days to return the IBM thinkpad to ibm with no restocking fee!
