This is a 240W Lenovo TFX power supply unit! it is 7" X 3 3/8" X 2 3/4"

Two high quality PS makers - Seasonic and the German manufacturer? seem to be fading and limiting themselves now to PS of 300 watts units while the Chinese manufacturer is making very cheap 420 watt models. Seasonic stop making the 350 watt modular model and Solid Gear is the only "brand name" that has a 350 watt model.

I do not know which are good manufacturers, so can anyone recommend a TFX 12V silent running and dependable power supply for my Lenovo P300 ssf. It is a micro desktop and currently has only a 240 watt power supply in it! I am currently changing out the fans in it, to a new quiet aftermarket cooling fans so I decided that maybe I should also get ready for a future video card possibly and to finish the silent project by adding in a silent power supply.

I know 300 watts is the standard but like to get a 350+ watt PS that is of a high quality! There does not seem to such a think yet unless I go and buy the Chinese 400. I think I will settle for 350 or even 300 for now. I thought of buying the Chinese 400 model and change the cooling fan to a quiet one but probably does not have pause reduce the fan speed function and better spec circuitry.

Thanks for any help you may be able to give me! I like to get the most powerful PS that is quiet and is dependable too!

I'd trust Seasonic to be able to supply 300w of power from their 300w power supply. I would not trust a no-name 420w to be able to provide 420w.

From recent reviews on Amazon and Newegg, it is not doing that great! I am think of going with Be Quiet! or a cheap 400+ watt no brand now. I saw a German brand when I first began my investigate that I really like but not supported in the U.S. and sale are not welcome from U.S. buyers.

I have a change of heart and decide to take your advice and buy the Seasonic 300TFX. The Be Quiet! TFX Power 2 is now in U.S. retails for $85 with MAP $45-$70 added so I was not going play $130-$155. I might be a sucker, but not that much of one!

Here is what I have done. I clean the fan blades and the inside of my ThinkStation. It took about 1/2 hour and now it is much more silent then before. Did order new ThinkStation fans before I clean them. Cost a fortunate. Much more then the after market ones that start with "Nu..." Also, my intention was to replace my PS with a much bigger PS so I might go no brand to get a 400 watt. Just have not decided yet! It is very tempting to buy big and not care for quality!

Don't do it. A generic branded PSU that claims 400W might not even be capable of 250W, and might fail prematurely and take out the motherboard, video card, etc with it.

Keep in mind that a quiet fan, through lower flow to reduce turbulence, reduces the output power and/or lifespan of most PSU designed to be fan cooled.

If there were no trade offs using small form factor cases and PSU, everyone would do it.

Yeah! I guessing I gotten the urge to have more powerful graphic cards! LOL! I came to my senses and order a Seasonic 300TFX along with a 24 pin to 14 pin power supply adapter cable! I think I going to wait till the Volta engine comes out in April and then get the Pascal graphics cards in 1050 it for cheap in June!

Just got done replacing my Lenovo 240 watt power supply with a new Seasonic 300TFX power supply. What difference! Silent running. It quite shocking to heard almost nothing come from my P300 sff Thinkstation. The OEM power supply fan was making the noise; not the CPU(which I have replaced) nor the front intake fans which I have not replace yet! Very happy with the new power supply and new CPU fan!:)

I have added 60 more watts; so that I can upgrade to 1050 ti when they drop in price to where they should be with a lot of wattage margin to spare! I can wait it out!
