texture shimmering

The most common situation where you will see texture shimmering is in games with a large viewing distance. Look off towards the horizon and you'll sometimes see what looks sort of like a mirage. You see pixels that are moving/flickering/shimmering when they shouldn't be. It's hard to describe, you just have to see it.

It happens quite a bit up close with both ATI's and nVidia's newer cards at default driver settings. If you search this forum for "shimmering" I am sure you can find links to videos of both.
