This problem is drivng me nuts. Everything is fine in 16bit but when I switch to 32bit, floor textures in front of me flicker like *****. I tried everything what Epic suggests like "UseVideoMemoryVB", different D3DDrv.dll etc. I'm using right now the Det. 6.34. Does anybody else encounters the same problem like me?

MC

PS: This never happened on my V3 --> GLIDE RULES! (it's dead, though...)

Have you tried turning on vsync in your driver control panel?
Have you tried running the game in OpenGL instead of Direct 3D?

I had the same problem with my radeon card, d3d 32 bit gave me flickering, but 16 bit d3d worked fine. I never figured it out i just put the my voodoo5 back in after playing around with the Radeon for a month. Note the voodoo5 didn't have the d3d 32 bit flickering problem, but i just use glide instead, looks just as good faster smoother no problems.

It works in OpenGL but it looks like crap even when I use the modified S3TC version which gives nice looking textures but when you look in far areas then everything is washed out (especially with the Assault Rifle). D3D is much better in terms of image quality (sharper textures). GLIDE is still king.

I tried all combinations of VSync on/off in the UnrealTournament.ini and in the driver control panel.

Any other ideas?

I'm being a smart mouth maybe, but, maybe you should get a voodoo5, esp if UT is your main game. I was disapointed in my voodoo5 at first, but after having it for a while i learned it's a lot better card than the reviews sites make it out to be.

oh btw, benskywalker once said turning vsync off actually may fix flickerin in OGL UT. dont ask me why

Hey BrotherMan: YOU're DA MAN!

It's called exactly: DetailTextures=False

It works! But UT in 1024x768x32 is damn slow on my GF2MX. And GLIDE is still superior in this game. on my V3 16bit looks nearly just as good as 32bit on GeForce. 16bit on GeForce looks like crap but I have to use it when playing online...

Again: THANX!
