text messaging?

anyone prefer text messaging another person to initiate a phone call when convenient for the other person? (cell phone text messaging btw).

Yeah, a text message can be useful if it's possible the other person is otherwise engaged (class, dinner, something else) and a call might be a bad inconvenience.

I did this afternoon at 2 pm. She then called me 10 mins afterwards when we then talked for a little bit. I then mentioned to her that I have no dinner plans and would like to go out because I didnt want to stay home tonite.

She's not fond of text messaging because she has to read the message and would prefer just to talk. I just don't want to catch her in an inconvenient time.
