Text in games on Xbox

Does anybody have trouble reading the text in Xbox games. I have benn playing video games since 1978. I have had NO TROUBLE reading the text in games until I bought my Xbox. That is when I noticed that most of the text is not clearly visible in my games. Maybe it is my tv.

I can see and read the Dashboard CLEARLY but not the text in dome of my games.

Batman: Arkham Asylum comes to mind and certain demos...

What tv? What display settings in console? If it's a hdtv, try turning sharpness to 0 and disable any edge enhancement or noise filters.

tv is an Insignia 17-20 inch
The display settings are tv, widescreen, composite/s-video

I have a 4GB Kinect S

I am not sure the tv is widescreen or not. Somebody gave me the tv used. It is a flat screen tv

Is it set to 480 in the console settings? See if changing from widescreen makes it better.

That's your problem. Do you have the option to use component, HDMI or VGA on your TV?

I do have VGA, HDMI and componment on my tv.

Yup

These games are made to be HD. If you're watching them in SD you can't read the text. They weren't made to display that way.

Yeah I used to play my XBOX 360 on my wide screen tube TV. Even with a component video at 480p, I had a tough time reading the text in games like GTA4, Skyrim, COD, etcv

Bought a 55" plasma a few months ago and yeah needless to say my TV sucked.

Maybe there is a problem with the Xbox's software or hardware NOT your tv...

No offense but I played SNes on a 13-15 inch tv with no problems. I also played my old Maganavox on an even older tv.

LOL, the SNES was meant to be played on an HD display, whereas the 360 and PS3 are. :biggrin:

I seem to remember at least one current gen title in which QA never even looked at the game in SD. They had to patch it when complaints rolled in about the text being unreadable.
