I love Smultron for my iBook, but when I'm on my PC, I need an editor that has colors for HTML/PHP syntax. It would be nice if it also has tabs.

 
Another vote for Crimson Editor. I like JEdit too but I find I spend a lot of time tweaking JEdit to make it more like Crimson Edit.


 
KEDIT. A near perfect clone of XEDIT (I'm showing my age here....). Plus, a REXX sub, KEXX, is part of the deal. Not cheap, but I've never needed anything else. FWIW
