"Hey Grandma, some fuck(s) on the internet think you should abandon your home, friends, and community that you've lived in for the past 80+ years in your final years of life. I'm sure this change won't be jarring and/or upsetting for you at all."
Hate to break it to you, but you don't get it both ways. Humanity has fucked this planet up, and if you want to be comfortable, a migration might be in your future. There's a large number of people from south of your location that have already figured that out, and your time will be coming sooner or later.

I'd rather stay closer to the south in case "The Day after Tomorrow" comes true.

Oh, thank you so much for explaining that to me.

The fact that you can't understand and empathize with the situation I've outlined is frankly sad and pathetic.

I also in no way said we'd never be moving. You're clearly just focused on this narrative that you've created -- that I feel it's impossible to relocate at any point in my life, which is entirely not the case.

Hey now, you're the one who walked in the thread with the victim complex, don't get annoyed because it was pointed out.

Lol.

"I was born here and am helping take care of an elderly relative in their final years," -- paraphrasing what I said. Where is the victim complex in anything I said? I provided the context of my situation and the reason why I am still here. You, on the other hand, were just foaming at the mouth with a false sense of superiority to try and make it seem as if I view relocation as an impossible feat. As if I was making excuses for myself. As if I'm not just trying to be a decent grandson for a couple more years to someone who did so much for me throughout most of my life.

But sure, man. You're right lol.

Your first post in this thread:

Fuck us for being born here, right?
If you don't like it, you know which direction is colder.

Because there's a massive giant ass heatwave over the state? I don't think there's been a day below 100 in a month. It's horrific, it's like satan himself applying a blowtorch to your bunghole.

People like that dipshit Josh Hawley think Roe v Wade ending will cause women and people that don't hate them to leave the state, consolidating R control over those states.

Have they considered what happens when a state becomes too hot for people to live in it? When their key demo of pissed off old people can't go outside for fear of heatstroke and death? One serious ERCOT failure and they're back to dying by the dozens (thanks Obama).

I feel like we're going to have a culling in the South soon. If you're elderly, overweight and with existing health conditions down there, good luck to you. Hope you have money , friends/fam up North who don't hate you.
Being BORN there I can cut you some slack.... choosing to STAY there OTOH not so much!

;)
I do understand being a prisoner of circumstance. For myself, I don't have much of an excuse except for the fact that the old OCD's got a handful of my short curlies.

Dad was career Army and at one point (not sure if before or after his stint in SoKo), and we had to move to Fort Hood area for about a year - in a trailer - with NO a/c.

How hot was it? It was sooo hot, that dark plastic toys would just melt into a puddle if exposed to the sun. It was so hot, it could easily qualify as a method of torture.
