Texas Tornado Truck

Shit. Did I see at least 2 trucks in the background on their way to low earth orbit? I was waiting for the red one to go, but alas, he seems to be hauling ass in the opposite direction.

Poor Texas. I really feel for them. Even people from Oz, where basically everything wants to kill you, are afraid to go to Texas. Not sure how TX is worse though. Do the scorpions, tarantulas, copperheads, rattlers, etc have like, IDK, whatever their version of meth-fueled motorcycle gangs are?

edit: Ooops. Sorry moma nature. Yes, your weather there is also quite frightening. Dry your eyes.

I no longer have the photos but I've seen several pictures of 18-wheelers literally 100's of feet in the air in a tornado.... and one with a couple of empty train-cars!

😳

Grew up in TX. Tornadoes are still about the only thing that actually scares me. Come out of nowhere, and facefuck everything in their path. TX gives you a fear of clouds.

Wow, just wow. Driver had to think that it was all over.

I sense a new truck campaign in the works for Chevrolet.
That would probably work great if they could add things like asphalt piercing hydraulic anchors, kevlar/carbon fiber body panels and bullet proof windows. Don't think thats going to be in the specs though.

Oh man. Now you're just bumming me out. Big fluffy clouds are one of the joys of nature. Cumulo-nimbus maybe not so much, but still beautiful, in their own way. That's just some straight up, unflavored suck without even a single sprinkle.

One of my earliest memories was being at a gas station and watching a funnel cloud form overhead, thankfully it dissipated. You can trust the white fluffers, never trust green cloud walls that extend further than you can see.

Ruh? Green? OK, here's what I found that sort of looks green.

I'm not really happy with either of those. When did Satan get permission to f*** with the clouds?

The Pacific Northwest doesn't have many weather events similar to that but there have been a few touchdowns of small tornadoes, and I have been flying on two of those days.
Every time the sky looked like ass over there, pretty clear I didn't want anything to do with it. I did get to bomb across Texas and the southern states to Florida in thunderstorm season.

Like the first one, also stuff like this:

Technically speaking the greenness just means it's a severe storm, but severe storms in TX/the great plains often means tornados, so you tend to just assume they're comin'.

Oh man, I really want to fly but I can't afford it. What I have my heart set on is a powered sail plane, but new, last I looked (a while ago) a new sail plane with a decent engine, parachute, avionics, etc. is/was like a couple hundred grand new. I could probably do it by buying used but it's still a money pit and I guess I'm just not passionate enough about it. 🙁

Kid is getting a new 2022 Chevrolet Silverado, $15K, and he was hired. He was on his way home from a job interview when he encountered the tornado.

Wow that's awesome that they gave him a new truck. I don't imagine insurance covers tornado damage especially if you get air time like that. lol.
