Hey guys... I made this movie back in May, as a final project for my RTF 318 class (Introduction to Image and Sound). I have been passing copies to almost anyone I know - and it has just now struck me odd as to why I have neglected to post a link to it in the Anandtech forums, where I have been lurking and learning about computing for oh so many years now. Right click below, save-as to download it.
*TEXAS-SIZED LAN TOURNEY*
Details: This is a 4 minute documentary about a big LAN party thrown by the two PC Gaming clubs at the University of Texas at Austin back in April of this year (the 17th I believe?). All sorts of games were played, but most systems were running UT 2004 practically the entire time. They even set up a tournament between the 2 organizations, which I caught on video and used to wrap up the 2nd half of this, my first film.
I have begun an intensive and critical study of media/production at UT and I am extremely proud to be where I am. However, this a smy first work is not perfect... if you want to pick it apart through strict documentary and cinematic standards it might not stand as 1st class work, haha... but you know what I am still proud of it. It's funny and flows well through an introduction to LAN gaming to the final showdown at the end and I feel like I captured some great footage, giving the uninformed viewer a decent idea of why we love to LAN so much.
I am extremely interested in the opinions if anyone who sees this, was actually at the party... of course they will be quick to notice my creative editing through the actual tournament - all I will say is this was my first time to record and edit as much video as this and some glitches happened, lots of footage was lost.... I made do though
Anyone who wasn't there, wouldn't notice
Well there you have it! I invite you to view my first movie and even critique it, so long as it's all constructive criticism and/or generous praise
