Just amazing to me, he did see that there were law enforcement and military involved in the riot, right? This idea that the military and police are 'above reproach' is offensive.

He’s just following the RW spin, just as Faux did.

Remember Texas rolled out its National Guard to "monitor" Jade Helm? Not to mention, he's ignoring how there's been calls for Texas to secede, so where he's acting all affronted, he deserves a Texas sized fuck you boot right up the ass.

Plus its been warranted considering the fact that they've already taken a couple of them off this duty because of association with white supremacist groups. Then take into account the multiple murders that have taken place on Ft. Hood (which kicked off another firestorm about the rampant sexual assault/abuse/harassment in the military), seems that we should perhaps be scrutinizing military personnel more than we have been?

Hell, remember how right wingers have raged (for once somewhat correctly although as usual its more about them being non-white "others" than it is about anything else seeing how they didn't seem to mind white supremacist groups actively trying to recruite military members) about how MS-13 and other gangs were using the military to train?

Next he'll throw a fit because they are vetting Biden's Secret Service detail.

Edit: Or, um, demand that Biden ride in a convertible past the Texas Schoolbook Depository in Dallas.

I have a relative (step-relative?) who got booted out of the National Guard for expressing white supremist views and associating with other white supremists. I guess his commander tolerated the guy's bullshit until the unit got called up for an overseas adventure. Then the commander decided he didn't want to hear that shit more than one weekend a month and booted him. According to relatives closer to the guy, he has grown up a bit. I don't know if he still believes in white supremacy but if he does, he's learned to keep it to himself.

This is really SOP, anyone that does anything near the president has to be cleared.

Joe Biden becoming president during a Trump administration is in itself a miracle of biblical portion. Trump has made people insane, at least 70 million people. And we all know without a doubt of the bigotry and racism that exists across America on a massive scale. We all remember how republicans went after president Obama every hour of every day of Obama’s presidency. We know of the hate, we have seen the hate, that hate which got Donald Trump elected. So now we have a new VP who is a minority and a woman and a woman of color. And we now have a new president who will not build walls nor demonize minorities. So right there you have plenty of justification to consider closely anyone and everyone with access to this newly elected president. It would be beyond tragic if some Trump radical national guard member killed Joe Biden or Harris, and then watching the Abbot’s and Ted Cruz’s stating how SHOCKED AND SADDENED they are over such an unforeseen incident ever happening. Frankly I don’t give a damn what Fox News or the Abbot’s of the world say, we have a gem, a shining star in Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and I want then both protected like a soccer player protects his balls.

Clarifying: he didn't say it was "offensive," he said it "is the most offensive thing I've ever heard." [emphasis added]

So, taken in context of "white people should be allowed to own black people," "Jews should be burned alive in gigantic ovens" and the lyrics to WAP THIS is the thing that takes the cake over all else.

"I love the smell of sour grapes in the morning. Smells like.........victory". *author unknown

Fvck'in hypocrite conservatives will be coming out of the vineyards by the millions flinging sour grapes for four or maybe eight years from hereon in, with "Stop the Steal!" becoming as iconic as the now ironic "Lock Her Up!"

This is from a member of the Texas Republican Party, I take it? The same one that only just suggested seceding from the country which he's now offended at suggestions some of his fellow Texans might not be loyal to?

It is a disservice to simplify it in the way I think that implies.

One word. Clinton. It wasn't racism then, and it won't be racism when they do the same thing to Biden. The opposition is merely extremism, and it is in the nature of that extremism that we can find motive and purpose behind our opponent's actions. From there we can render them predictable and, hopefully (though needing no small miracle) addressable.

But if we steer off the path and simply denounce bigotry and racism then we will remain powerless by knowing only a part of the picture. Not knowing them, truly knowing, is how they win.

Damn I forgot to even go there.

That brings up a point that I think is pertinent though. A few years back, I watched an ESPN 30 for 30 on SMU football program of the I think 70s and 80s, and it was interesting that media people explained and the people that were involved justified the rampant corruption happening in Texas as some behavior that grew out of embarrassment over Kennedy's Assassination in the state. After Romney thoroughly got embarrassed (and embarrassed Republicans - I still remember the clips of like Fox News people just completely lost going "Have we become completely out of touch with the American people? Maybe we are too racist/homophobic/bigoted and we should instead look to extend olive branches and try to work with people instead of demonizing them?"), and well we know what followed.

We're already seeing the traitors and cowards going back to the exact same bullshit after a week. All the "we need to hold those people accountable!" is out the window with those assholes, they're pushing conspiracy shit again.

The Lt. Gov was the asshole that said that older/elderly should just take one for the team and die to covid so the younger generations could keep businesses and their daily lives open so they could prosper...yeah. REAL humanitarian, right there.
I don't know if he still believes in white supremacy but if he does, he's learned to keep it to himself.
It's many people like him that have been emboldened and encouraged over the past 4 years now that are adding to it, sadly.
Didn't they just arrest a US soldier today for planning to blow up the 9/11 memorial?
Yep, an Army private for supplying info and assistance to who he believed to be ISIS but were actually FBI agents or informants.
