Virginia’s state flag and seal, depicting the Roman goddess Virtus standing over a slain tyrant, her drooping toga exposing her left breast, has been banned from younger students in a Texas school district.

The district, Lamar consolidated independent school district, near Houston, took action against the image late last year when it removed a section about Virginia from its online learning platform used by third through fifth graders, typically encompassing ages eight to 11, sparking a row, Axios reported on Thursday.

The Texas Freedom to Read Project, a group that opposes censorship and book bans in the state, said it had “unlocked a new level of dystopian, book-banning, and censorship hell in Texas” when it discovered that students in Lamar can no longer learn about the state of Virginia on their online research database, PebbleGo Next.

The group said that after it filed a public records request, the school district acknowledged that “Virginia” had been removed from the website due to the lesson violating the school board’s local library policy banning any “visual depictions or illustrations of frontal nudity” in elementary school library material.

Got me looking up pictures of state flags, and, sheesh, so many of them seem really poor designs. Some states are apparently so lacking in self-confidence that they have to have the name of the state written on them as part of the design - that seems pretty naff. Others seem to feature absurdly detailed and over-complicated images. West Virginia's seems particularly bad. Was thinking that Minnesota's is nice, but I notice that was only adopted a year ago!

Again, Minnesota has it right with their newer version. Nice, aesthetically-pleasing, simple, recognisable geometric pattern with some underlying rationale for the pattern chosen.

The states with two guys flags need updating. Wisconsin’s flag has a miner and a sailer, professions that haven’t been well represented since 1890. An insurance salesperson and a medical coder would be more appropriate. Arizona could replace the copper star with a Polar Pop.

Well at least I know what is wrong with me. I remember dragging out a bunch of my Dad's ham radio gear from the garage, setting up a garden umbrella and draping blankets around it to make a flying saucer. I was probably seven or eight and could power things up with an extension cord. Am I suddenly typing in bold? Anyway, to get to the point I remember as we laid on the ground there talking about girls and their breasts and the size we preferred I remember cracking us up when I came up with the concept of 'whole tit' followed by giggles and laughter. Obviously my idea of the perfect woman at the time. Perhaps today I would make one addition to that. And though I must confess to being sick in the head, I can't really imagine the Texas law would have saved me. Not even as a boy I didn't ever experience that seemingly famous 'girl yuck'\ thingi'.
