Let me see if I understand what you want to do.

You currently have a Wireless Router that is 5GHz capable.

You want the new wireless Router to connect as a Client Bridge to the main Router at 5GHZ and then you will plug with a Wire the X-Box and other PC top the New Trendnet.

Well iy might work or might not because when doing concoction like this there is no way to know if the Trendnet will connect to the main Router in WDS mode and provide the service at all, and or will not cut the bandwidth by 50%.

I.e., If you main Router is Not a similar Trendnet get the Trendnet only if you can Return it for refund.

The best way to go about such concoction is to use two router that can be flashed with DD-WRT and use the Client bridge mode.

That's exactly right.

I have a WNDR3700. That was my fear about WDS as far as I could figure out.

It's a pain to find a cheapie 5ghz unit that's DD-WRT capable. The Trendnet is $40 brand new.
