Tethering in Northern Alberta

Hey there,

I have a question. I am thinking about buying into a mobile internet package so I have internet access while working in northern Alberta (given the proper towers and coverage). My friend told me that if you tether your cell phone data it uses double the bandwidth compared to buying a mobile internet stick and plan? Is there any truth behind that statement?

It would be nice to have just one bill to pay for mobile internet and not a cell phone + a mobile stick.

Thanks

I am no expert, but I really don't see how it is possible. 1MB is 1MB no matter how you get it.

The Big 3 (Telus, Bell, Rogers) and their discount brands (Koodo, Virgin, Fido) allow tethering with their smartphone plans with no additional charges (other than the standard overage).
