I have a cingular 3125. Plugged that baby into my laptop, shared the connection, and got online. Just for like, 2 seconds, but it worked. I have an unlimited media net plan, so I won't get charged, but it's pretty cool being able to connect like that.

Just be aware that some providers do indeed know when certain phones are in tethered mode, and will hit you hard on your bill if you use it much.

I actually tether for my main connection (DSL and cable isn't available) and it works pretty well. I have Alltel and have been very pleased, I even do quite a bit of downloading (probably 20GB/mo average) and they don't seem to care. You connected w/EVDO or 1xRTT? I'm using EVDO and can pretty consistently do about 1Mbps+, so yeah, it rocks considering our options (it only costs $25/mo for unlimited tethering). Only downside is the latency, makes the connection pretty worthless for most online gaming.

So, how many forums are you posting it on ;) ahemhofoahem Anyhow, don't let at&t catch you tethering, you're not suppose to do it with MediaNet.
