Testing RAM, Testing CPU, and testing MoBo.

I have some SDR and some DDR RAM I need to test. I have a working rig with one stick of working DDR memory and I want to use it to test some other sticks of DDR RAM. What should I do?

I have a rig that hasn't ever worked yet and I am trying to chase down possible problems so I am going through the three main sources of the problem, bad RAM, bad CPU, or BAD MoBo.

How do I test the CPU? I have a different MoBo than the one in my broken rig but it has the same socket how would I do a test on the CPU?

How can I test a MoBo?

I want something that does a thorough diagnostic so when I test a part I can be 99%+ certain that the part works and is not causing my rig to not function.

I have memtest86 and I was wondering if there is some way I can run it off of a CD-ROM or if I will have to install a disk drive?
