anybody know any software that can determine if the COM ports on the computer are functioning right? Thanks...
 
Most serial utils are pretty useless...

If you have an external modem: You can boot a dos flopy, and have the modem on & connected externally... Type:
echo ata > com#
-> #=1,2,3,4
will make it go off hook if your comport is working correctly (in DOS anyway).


echo atz > com#
will hang it back up / put it on-hook again.
