Testing Athlon XP 1600+ for Sell

Someone I know had an eMachines computer that was unable to boot(powers on but no POST). I took a look at it and was able to narrow down the problem to either the Athlon XP 1600+ processor or the motherboard. I have a hunch that the processor is fine because they almost never go bad until they've been overclocked. I'd like to sell the processor with its heatsink-fan on eBay, but I don't have a motherboard that would work with an AMD processor, so I can't test it.

I thought about getting a used motherboard that would support an Athlon XP 1600+ so I could test it and then sell the processor and motherboard together on eBay. Any thoughts on what I should do? Thanks.

Instead of using it as a paperweight, sell it to someone for $5, if it doesn't work, $5 is nothing even for a poor person like me.. jw, what socket does that run?

I'd pay that 5$ + shipping for it right now, been wanting to make a slim server for a while now.
