Testing a processor fan

I have a new motherboard and processor and have sold the old motherboard and am planning to sell the old processor but I am not sure if the fan works. Can it be tested using one of the fan connectors on the new board? The old processor is a Athlon 500 (Slot A), the motherboard is Abit K7-E (Socket A). I just wondered if the voltages are compatible.
 
Yes, the voltages are the same. you can just plug it into the fan header.
