Testing a new system...

I am currently recieveing parts for my first PC build. I should be able to start assembling next week. After I am done, are there any tests you recommend I can run to make sure everything is working well?

BTW, my system: A8N-SLI, AMD64 3000+(939), Leadteck 6600GT, 512X2 Samsung (M368L6423FTN-CCC), Seasonic Super Storm 400W SS-400-HS, NEC 3520, two SEAGATE ST3120827AS (120GB SATAII 7200)Barracuda 7200.7 SATA NCQ 8192KB 8.5ms, Owltech case.

I'd recommend the 90nm AMD64 3000+ (also called Winchester core) which is also socket 939 (other cores are 130nm clawhammer/newcastle)

It's supposed to run cooler, overclock better, wash your dishes, iron your clothes etc... lol anyway it's better though.

If you don't have it and can still change it though...

I know I risk gettig flamed over this suggestion, but I prefer running a Distibuted Computing program. My preference is SETI Classic. I do this for a couple of reasons:

1. It runs the CPU at 100%, but still allows me to have full use of the system when I want to do something

2. Expectation for all system types are well know and can be verified on the DC Forum

3. It is fun and those of us in the DC forum feel that is it produtive

4. and last, but not least, the SETI TeAm needs the help to regain 5th place worldwide!

If you want to see how cool that new video card is I'd run 3D Mark

I am also a big fan of the Sandra Utilities to verify FSB and memory settings, etc - SiSoftware for Sandra 2005

Then stop by the DC Forum to find out how to setup and run one of our projects.

Folding at Home is also a good test of system stability, and helps medical research at the same time.
