Testing a mainboard

You will want to lay the board down on a flat surface with something
anti-static underneath like the foam pad that comes attached sometimes
or the bag mobos come in just to be safe, if you have none of that
you will probably be ok laying it on the mobo box. Be sure you are
grounded when doing this and just install a power supply, CPU/fan,
memory and VGA card if needed. I always use an old switch from a
case to power it on but some people just short the power leads
with a screwdriver which I do not recommend as you may damage
your motherboard. As always clear your CMOS and start fresh when
doing this.
