Test setup w/o a case or power switch

Assuming I don't immediately have a case without a system in it, however I do have everything else at hand. Shouldn't I be able to test it all just with a jumper across the MB's pins that go to the power switch? (OK, OK, no idea where my head was! Thanks to mechBgon for reminding me.)

Not a jumper, because the motherboard's only looking for a momentary connection, not a continuous one. How about a tickle from Mr. Screwdriver 🙂
