Test my UPS: unplug from wall while pc is on?

can i do that just to see how long my system would stay on? or will something bad happen? i dont think anything will happen except the UPS will go into battery mode...right

Yes, you can do that. Nothing wrong with getting as close as possible to a loss of power simulation.

i just pulled the plug from my UPS with my system and everything running normally and my APC status program installed informed me that it is now running on battery power and time till automatic shutdown (set prior by me), i was also informed via 3 beeps from my UPS and the display showing the amount of time left until the batteries go out on it.

:thumbsup: Don't forget to put the cable modem & network hardware on the UPS so that you can stay online during power outages. :)

oh i dont have the modem connected, they have their own UPS downstairs. i'm about 500 feet away using wireless
