Test for quality of DVD burn?

Is there something out there that can test the quality of a burned DVD disk? Several times I have used Xcopy or similar software to burn movies to DVD. After I have burned a DVD, I quickly skip through each chapter to see if the burn went well. I have found several times I get "blocking" between chapters that make the scene unwatchable. By the time I find this out, many times I do not have the source disk handy. Is there a software program that can test the quality of the burn?

I don't know any software, but I have found that burning at a lower speed helps to reduce these kind of quality errors. I rarely burn over 4x for DVDs or 12x for CDs.

Yep. Just head over to DVDInfoPro.com and download the latest version of DVDInfoPro. Once you have it installed, run the error check on the CD after you burn it. When I first got my Nu Tech DVD-RW and burned some 4X media @ 8x, Nero went through and burned it fine. When I ran the error test though, there were thousands of errors.

I updated the firmware, tried again @ 8x, and no error at all came up. If it wasn't for that program, I would have never known that I had so many errors on the DVD.

Thanks Insane3D. That was exactly what I was looking for. It errored out on a bad DVD I had and passed on a known good one. Perfect.

How did I not know about that functionality of Nero CD/DVD speed?

Seeing that DVDInfoPro is adware/shareware, I'll stick to Nero's freeware.

Never knew that either. I never really even looked at any of the other icons in the Nero Start Menu folder.😱
