Test drove a Mazda 3 this afternoon....

Fairly impressive... Seemed to be very quick and smooth. Brakes were nice as well.

Mazda3s 2.3l 160hp hatch..... auto w/ nav, leather, sunroof, xenon, side curtain ab, etc...

Didnt like the price at 23k, but if i got it in manual, w/o leather & sunroof, i should be able to stay around 20k.

My other options are a Scion tC (which hopefully i will be able to drive next week) and Cooper S.

Have you considered the Scion tC? I heard they're pretty nice.

I thought you were looking at the Mini? My GF has a Mazda3 and we like it. We're also shopping for a new car.

<--- Mazda3s sedan. 🙂

Scion tC is an excellent car as well, though I didn't care much for the feel of it... not to mention, I think the tC is ugly as sin, and I really wanted a 4-door. Came down to personal preference, really.

It happens, the keys are like right next to each other...

I drove a 3 and a 6, both were nice cars off the lot. I would not buy either though.

My younger brother was about to buy a Mazda3 Hatch, it was black, 5spd, leather, moonroof, NOnavi, xenon and for that price we went and got a deal on an Impreza.

For less than $20k, you could get a subaru imprezza 2.5RS with the sport pacakge. Not a WRX as far as power is concerned, but it has 165hp 166 lb-ft torque, awd, and pretty reliable.

I'd take a cooperS over the maz3.

Even at 20k, thats WAY overpriced.

He was looking at a fully loaded hatchback. Nav system, leather, and automatic transmission alone tack 3 grand onto the price (AT is a touchshift).

The mazda 3 hatch is nice, but (at least for me) it had giant blind spots on the left and right when I test drove it. Almost hitting a car merging onto the same exit ramp as you during the test drive isn't cool. 😛

yeah, i dropped my goal of getting a tC, really need to have 4 doors. The mini would be nice, but what I priced out is 30k... heh. But then the 3s I priced... it hit 22k... blah... so spensive. So now it's back to my original theory... that i'll never spend more than 10k total on a car.

Go check cars direct. mazda 3 loaded at my area code(06409) is $18,790

That's this one:
2005 Mazda Mazda3 4dr Hatchback s
with the addition of leather and ABS only.

IMHO appearence package (side curtian I think you call it) and sunroof are a waste of money as is the xenon stuff. I didn't do moonroof+CD changer package, That's about $900 more.

No incentives/rebates right now though 🙁

why is a sunroof a waste of money? it's really nice to have one... the cd changer I could do w/o... I could aftermarket that for cheaper probably... why the hell is it packed w/ the moonroof anyway... the rear spoiler lip also is a nice $300... and the sport package.. I want the 3s w/ 16's... i'll get my own 17's later.

I was referring to side curtain airbags. 🙂 Personally i would MUCH rather have Xenon Headlamps and Nav than leather seats. It aint so nice down here in FL.

Wait, it is... If you have a AAA membership, you can get a car for 1-5% over invoice.

Hopefully, one is keen enough on the prices of vehicles and would be able to get at least a deal as good as this - if not better by not going through AAA.

it's a good vehicle. little things annoy me about it

i paid around 18600 for fully optioned, (xenon,leather,6cd,navigation,etc) using the S-plan.

The dealership i went to sucks though.
