This is for mrs. skoorb's brother. He actually wants a low end version but this is all they had on the lot at the time.

This thing is nice and fast like a rocket and sweet like butta. It had the GPS navigation screen which kicked my heiny. We weren't in the version with a bazooka sub but anyway.

The second we left the lot before the guy handed over the keys he gunned it decently through the first 4 gears (there are 6). He admitted that all the test drivers run this thing hard. It has 260 miles on it so my recommendation to anyone is never buy a car off the lot - get one ordered in. He said he had a 17 year old who went from the end of 2nd gear into first gear instead of 3 by mistake TWICE.

Anyway the sticker price on this was a SICK $24k. I could hardly believe it. Sure it had nice options and I've never been in a WRX but 227 HP and AWD vs. 180 HP and front wheel drive.....no brainer.

I'm not sure if the GPS Nav system is the same as in the VIBE, but its not really a GPS system using satellites to triangulate your location.

What you do is put in your current location and your destination, and it sense how fast your going and tells you where to go based on that and your heading <direction>.

That's all dandy and all, until your wheel slips or you skid. The Nav system thinks your in a different direction and gives incorrect info.

I got this from a review I read of the Vibe in the Toronto Star a few weeks back.

Back to the Matrix, its horridly over-priced and you don't even get the AWD system when you opt for the 180hp engine.

I don't think it's like that based on only the fact that when we got in the car he pressed a button and it showed our position right away and we stopped for gas and it was still dead on with where we were going and our direction and what not...

Ok then its probably only for the Vibe then..or maybe its just the CDN Nav system <you tested this in the States right?>

Hell only two manufacturers offer NAV here, Infiniti and Mercedes..and on the Infiniti..its only offered on their G35.

The XRS base price is $19,294...a comparably equipped WRX would be $5k over its base too

I saw an XRS 6-speed for $21,500 in Burlington, NC two weeks ago. It was blue and had GPS & 17" wheels.

The Vibe and the Matrix use the same dash and the same GPS system. It doesn't even make sense that the two would have two different GPS systems.

Yeah I guess this had a lot of options...

OK well lets compare it to a Spec-V. 5 HP less and a good $1500 less!

I was really impressed though how the seats go down and the back is PERFECTLY flat. It goes right down making an awesome cargo space.

Yeah, I'd like to see you haul some stuff in a Spec-V ;) The Vibe is the all around better vehicle IMHO. You can't beat the cargo space (you can even fold the front seat all the way forward), plentiful options (mmmmm, GPS), and kickass performance for the money.

Matrix XRS 6-speed

0-60, 7.26 seconds
1/4 mile, 15.67 seconds
slalom, 66.9 MPH
60 - 0, 114 feet

Sentra Spec-V

0-60, 7.2 seconds
1/4 mile, 15.6 seconds
slalom, 66 MPH
60 - 0, 121 feet

Why even bother with the Spec-V?? :D For $21,500, I'd gladly take the Matrix w/17" rims, moonroof, 6-speed, 6-disc CD changer, and GPS over the Spec-V. Not to mention that that was sticker price. I could haggle with the dealer and take some more off that.

I just priced a Spec-V for $19,935 with moonroof, side airbags, 6-disc in-dash, and audio package. Spend a couple more $$$ and get the better vehicle :D

LOL...my eyeballs popped out of my head when I saw the sticker price :D I was there with my dad b/c I dropped him off to pick up his Highlander (in there for an oil change). I ran over to look at the Matrix and I was like SWEET!!! 17" wheels!!. I looked inside...GPS, moonroof, and 6-speed. Then I went over to the passenger window and looked at the sticker price and I was like...FAP FAP FAP FAP!!! :D

Your in the States, I'm talking about Canada..the review I read was by Canadians.

We have a fsked up GPS options. We dont' get GPS on Lexuses, Acuras, etc..Very manufacturers offer GPS over here.

Maybe both the Vibe and the Matrix have a different Nav system for Canada rather than the GPS-based one they have in the States.

LOL, the Vibe and Matrix are basically twins. They share everything except sheet metal. Hell, Pontiac even designed the dash/interior for both vehicles. Give GM SOME credit :)

So what's wrong with a 4 banger? It's all about power:weight. Ever see a Lotus Elise w/ a Type-R engine go head to head with a SVT Cobra R?
