BARRIE — Surveillance cameras were rolling last night as a Tesla Model S caught some serious air on a Barrie Street.

In the video posted above, the vehicle can be seen going airborne as it hits an incline leading up to a set of railroad tracks. Police say the electric vehicle landed more than 100 feet into the opposing lane, forcing it to skid across the roadway and hit a tree in a nearby school parking lot.

The driver and passenger were taken to a local hospital and treated for minor injuries. The driver was charged with dangerous driving under the Criminal Code of Canada and will appear in Barrie Court in October.

I would like to see the after picture. For something that heavy the aftermath must be horrendous.

That takes some serious effort for a vehicle that weighs close to 5000 pounds and has a very low center of gravity.

So, was the woman running like heck while working her phone trying to call 911 or to get video for her Twitter feed?

The sparks are from the front end hitting the ground after going airborne. I actually thought the driver recovered and drove off into the sunset like the Duke boys. Was wondering how they knew it was a Tesla. I guess the tree and aftermath was out of camera range.
