A two year NHTSA investigation concluded that Teslas Autopilot system can give drivers a false sense of security and is to easy to misuse. A software update rolling out on Tuesday will help mitigate the misuse of the Autopilot system.

It's not as bad you think. Software updates can help rectify problems that the manufacturer did not or could not replicate during the R&D process. They are just another tool to be used as vehicles get more complex.

I do understand that these types of updates can be scary for a lot of people who have never owned a vehicle with this ability but keep in mind they are not necessarily a bad thing.

I think people don't realize how much of a modern car's behavior is software driven. My Buick had a recall to address the software that determined how the ABS brakes performed.

Err... you prefer the bugs to last a lifetime? The first care with "code" was in 1977. Anything past then is subject to a typo, an error, or just bad code.

New features like more irritating nags and the car watching you closer to make sure you’re paying attention. Really glad my cars don’t get updates with awesome new “features” like those.
