it's a repost, but the search function sucks on these forums so you're forgiven.

Yeah my dad was telling me about this. Its a company based out of California I think. He said this is just there first car but later on they will be building cheaper everyday family cars. If they can pull that off it will be amazing.

It's way too much money. I wouldn't get one for myself because of that factor, primarily. Yeah, I'm saving gas money, but there's no way that I'm saving $70000+ worth in gas money :p

I think it's wonderful that you don't need a special electrical adapter to charge it though. They're going to need to extend the range beyond 250 miles if they really want the car to sell. Up to a full day to recharge from a normal outlet is also unappealing.

At $90,000, the two-seat car is out of reach of most consumers. Musk, however, said the company hopes to come out with a four-seat, four-door sub-$50,000 model in about three years. After that, an even cheaper car will emerge.

In 10 years, if they market these things and work out the technology well, they could be just as cheap as a combustion car with gas prices included.

They're not after Joe Shmoe's money, 0-60 in 4sec while being able to travel up to 250miles is impressive. The problem lies in the fact that it may or may not have little to no status appeal. People who spend 6 figures on a car want people to know they spent 6 figures on a car.
