That is ludicrous. $10K option for 0.4 seconds.
maybe to you but that 0.4 should extrapolate into a huge margin in a 1/4 mile.

That's the sum of the maximum power output of the two motors; however the P85D had a sum of 691 HP but never pulled more than 415 KW of energy from the battery, or around 556 HP.
He has a point though - electric cars are still big and heavy due to the battery packs.
If Tesla could make a miata fighter though? Holy hell that would be something.
Give something max torque at 0rpm and AWD and of course it will launch like a bat out of hell.
The S is impressive, but it is still a luxury car that goes stupidly fast (same vein as an Audi S8, BMW 750, S55 AMG, etc). They are not sports cars.
Hey, there is always something faster out there rightI'm curious about what the future holds for their EV competition. Like, the upcoming Bolt is really the only competitor, and even then to the unreleased Tesla Model 3 due to the 200-mile range. Plus, the current Ludicrous model is an actual usable daily driver car. There are faster cars out there, like the Zombie 222, but with a 50-mile range, it's not really as practical as a Tesla with a 300-mile range. And there are crazy fast ones like the 2000+ HP Red Victor 3 that can do zero to 60 in a second, so it will be interesting to see how far Tesla pushes it while also keeping it as a commuter car, instead of a specialized monster. Note that the Red Victor 3 gets 5 miles to the gallon![]()
Hey, there is always something faster out there rightWhen I said competition, I meant mass produced electric cars like the Leaf, eGolf, Focus electric, etc. There aren't a whole lot of electric only cars right now.
