I just registered so I could ask for help with this "Issue".

Well I've played Oblivion in this machine one year ago.
I noticed that sometimes there are graphical performance issues, being more frequent during battles or when blood was spilled, as well as other times.
I ignored this and kept playing, I even installed "Quarl's visual pack" which improved the textures, and a series of environmental mods. To do this I tweaked my system to the best performance changing the visual aspects, closing background programs, setting the processor to run on two cores, etc...

During summer I reinstalled Oblivion, and after installation the auto-run searched the machine for it's elements to set the graphic options. It recommended to run Oblivion on "Low" settings (as it did in the first time I installed the game) I started to play with these settings and I couldn't stop caring about the graphical slow down that occurred sometimes. I want advise on this, should I use "Oldoblivion mod"?

My machine is a Laptop with these specs:

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 (32 bits)

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo CPU P8600 @ 2.40Ghz 2.40Ghz

RAM: 4.00 GB

Graphics: NVIDIA Geforce 9600M GS

(This time I don't want to go on running two cores because of the machine's heat, which burned the charger, neither edit the performance settings like I did before).

You might also consider getting a notebook stand, if your laptop is overheating. In my experience, it helped a lot with frame rates on mine (well, not only that, but it also kept it from shutting down like a brick from the extreme heat). If you're not sure, you could always try to improvise one (medium/small room fan + laundry basket or something like that :D) and see if it fixes the problem.

What is odd here is that when I installed Fallout 3, the auto-run, recommended to run the game on "High" and it was smooth... But with Oblivion...

Just put a box fan on the table and place your laptop on it

I don't really recommend that you do this

I'm not asking for help with the heating. I'm asking for help with this "strange" performance issue, since I easily surpass the requirements.
