ION Television will be palying Terry Pratchett's Hogfather movie on November 25th.

Fans of Terry Pratchett and the Discworld will want to watch this if you haven't seen it already. It's a very good adaptation of the book.

I have seen it. It is excellent. However, Terry Pratchett is a lot more well known across the pond and I don't know how well it will be understood here.

i don't think there's anything in it that someone in the US wouldn't understand. if anything it would be more of a thing of whether you know the backstory and are a Discworld fan or not.

That is kind of what I mean. Terry Pratchett is very well known over there.

I looked up this movie, and it was on a Christian channel. I have read stuff co-written by Pratchett before and enjoyed it, but I don't like religious-oriented stuff. Is this a bible-thumper film, or can the non-believer enjoy it as well?

I am very surprised it is on a Christian channel. Terry Pratchett is not religiously oriented.
The gods in his books are more like roman mythology than christianity.

yeah, that is odd. its a parody of christmas, but thats about as christian or bible thumping as it gets.

i had a friend watch this movie awhile back (i imported it from the UK when it was released on DVD over there). He's not really into fantasy type stuff and he has never read a Discworld book but I did have him watch the 2 animated Discworld movies a long time ago.

He really enjoyed Hogfather. I did give him some more backstory and info about some of the characters and stuff as we watched it though, but it didn't seem to detract from his enjoyment.

Hogfather is one of the Discworld books I still need to read. I had no idea there was a movie based on Pratchett's work!

<----Owns two books autographed by Pratchett.
