Terrorists in the U.S. are befuddled!

The U.S. got hit hard on 9/11 by terrorists who, by all accounts, were not all aware they were part of a suicide mission.

Remaining terrorist cells in the U.S., having seen how some of their brethren were misled, might not be anticipating their own upcoming assignments now that they know that their leadership is willing to sacrifice them without informing them of the ultimate nature of their terrorist attack. After all, not all of them are willing to throw away their lives, only a few.

The potential terrorists living here (America) would probably be willing to ambush or shoot it out with their enemy, but I don't believe that most of them are ready to meet their virgins, as yet.

I think that most of them, who have probably been living her for years, don't even want to be called upon do die for a religion that they are allowed to practice here more freely than in their own countries.

Did I take a left turn someplace and lose the parade, or do my speculations hold some truth?
 
well... part of it may be true, but i find it hard to believe they flew a plane into a building, not thinking they were going to commit suicide.

It was originally misreported by one Intelligence and Armed Services Committee Senator (I forget which Senator) that Bin Laden was heard in the now infamous video telling one of his Saudi supporters that most of the hijackers did not know they were on a suicide mission. That was false and later repudiated.

All of the hijackers knew they were on a 'martyrdom' mission, meaning they would pay the ultimate sacrifice and be killed, only that the exact details of this mission were withheld from them until the last minute.

So yes it would seem you took a left turn someplace, especially with a statement like "by all accounts".

That is simply not true. The only thing that has changed (after the release of that "will video") is that they now believe that more than just the 4 pilots knew about the operation.
 
So, if I am mistaken about the 9/11 terrorists, is my premise about the remaining cells, if they exist, untrue? Do you believe that all of these people are willing to go down in flames even after living the "good" life?

I am not sure what part of my post your are taking issue with.

The thread originator claimed that "by all accounts" many of the hijackers were not told they were on a suicide mission. That is false. They ALL knew they were on a suicide mission, every single one of them CAME TO THE U.S. for the purpose of conducting a suicide (martyrdom) mission. The only thing that was withheld from any of them, if anything was withheld from any of them (and we know that is the case because Bin Laden stated as much to this effect) were the specific details of the mission and when it would happen.

hmm... well i guess it's possible. but the hijackers also lived "the good life", yet they still went through and did what they did.

Were ae you getting this information that they all knew it was a suicide mission?
 
YOUR RIGHT!! and all the Suicide bombers in Isreal didnt know they were gonna give up their lives while having a bomb strapped to them!!!! if they knew that they would have taken the bomb off!
 
from what i recall from the news, the ones who gave themselves pilot training knew their ultimate fate, but the rest of the goons who were the 'muscle' as they were called, who were the ones that terrorized and took over command of the planes, snuck into US more recently and seperatedly from the schoolboys. i think i recall it was suggested some or all of the muscle possibly did not know the planes were to be flown into buildings.

Remember when the government first reported having this tape, then there was all the discussion about whether or not they were going to release it, then the Bush Administration said it would be release on a certain date, and when that date came, they said translators and Arabic scholars were still going over the tape because certain parts of the conversation were difficult to hear so they put the audio through enhancement techniques, then they wanted non-government translators and scholars to give their approval of the translation so nobody could accuse the government of twisting the words, etc. etc.

It was during all of this, BEFORE the tape was released to the public and media, that the tape and a partial transcript was shown to members of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, and Committee Vice Chairman Senator Richard Shelby (this discussion jogged my memory) was interviewed on a few different news programs in which he described what he saw and heard on the video.

It was Senator Shelby who first reported in these interviews that the video shows Bin Laden discussing the plot, and that Bin Laden states some of the hijackers did not know they were on a suicide mission. In turn, Shelby's comments were reported far and wide in numerous articles or reports.

Fast forward to the when the video and transcript is finally released and there are two dozen news programs dissecting the video. Bin Laden says nothing to the effect that the hijackers did not know they were on a suicide mission. What he says is, and everyone on these news programs that I saw made a point of clarifying this, that all the hijackers knew they were on a martyrdom mission, only the details of the mission were withheld from some of them until the last minute.

For what purpose did you think these men came to the United States? Did you think they were here to open a bunch of 7-Elevens and some Al-Qaeda dude convinced them to do join Al-Qaeda instead?

They were all trained Al-Qaeda operatives, who came to the United States for the purpose of becoming martyrs in a suicide mission. For security reasons to prevent leaks, many of them were not told the specifics of their mission until the last possible minute, as is standard procedure with many of these well-organized terrorist groups. They train operatives, plant them in the country, tell them to 'blend-in' until they receive their marching orders. But, they know damn well the 'finality' in which their mission will result.
