Terror alert

I give it less than 24 hours before someone claims that this is all done just to take the spot light away from the DNC and try to score points for the RNC.

What would happen if they set the alert level to red?

People would lose their minds. There would probably be mayhem in the streets!

There's definitely a CYA aspect to it too, which inspires the government to declare such alerts frequently so they can't be blamed for being blindsided by yet another terrorist attacked. I liked that this latest alert gave some concrete, sensible measures to take because of the raised level. Prior alert level raises have been completely vacuous exercises in security theatre, telling you nothing.

nobody cares about the stupid terror alert its a childish ploy by the bush administration to try and adjust the amount of fear in the country at a time. it only works on dumb people.

I feel rather bad for the homeland defense guys. They are damned if they do, and damned if they don't.

If they warn us when they have credible evidence... and nothing happens, they are accused of inciting fear.

If they don't warn us, and something DOES happen, they were asleep at the switch and let us down.

This is readily apparent with all the political knee-jerking that goes on every time they raise the alert.

Right... I can see Moore creating his own religion, he'll take 7 passages from 5 different pages in the Bible and paste them together and then preach it to people on the street who can do nothing but stand there and awkwardly stare off down the road for help. And then he'll eat the paste.
