I hope that if an attack does occur, you are nearby. That way I can bring this us and watch you cry about how something should have been done to prevent the attack.

I don't often post to Off Topic...

I must say that most of the replies that I'm seeing here disturb me. The U.S. military has been using a threat system like this for years, and it works. Unless you have lived under something like that for years, I guess I don't expect you to understand it.

There IS something that every one of you can do. The whole reason for the implementation of such a system was so that people would become more aware of what is around them. A major reason that we are in the situation that we are today is that the american people had become complacent. The majority of americans walk down the street everyday oblivious to what is going on around them.

By raising the "threat," our government is saying "wake up people." Pay attention to what is going on around you. You never know when you could be the one that spots something that is out of the ordinary, or out of place.

Everybody complained that we did nothing last time we had "intelligence" of a terrorist plot against americans. There was an uproar that the public was not warned. Now, they do something and you still complain.

I'm a military spouse. My wife and I are currently stationed overseas. We don't have the luxuries afforded to us that you do. We very much appreciate any warning given to us by our government to be on the lookout. "Force Protection" is a very big deal here... Maybe you can say... "it won't happen to me, not here."

I wish I had that luxury.

so what do u wante me to do ,carry my m16 loaded and be read to shoot at moment notice?

TSDible has a good point. That stupid remark isn't funny :disgust:

We get an alert like this just when I'm in Washington DC doing contracting work at the Department of State (actually writing this from my laptop in the Dept of State building). I usually don't get too worked up, but I have to admit to feeling a bit worried while being in a target like DC, and a government building to boot! I'm ready to go home!
