Terrible sales people at a local computer store.

I recently walked into a local computer store to look for 2 very quiet fans for my case. I normally would have nothing to do with local stores but for 2 fans I thought it would be cheaper than paying for shipping off the web. I talked to this one older guy and told him that I need something very quiet. He told me in a non-joking and agressive manner.."Why don't you just buy a 100ft cable to attach to your computer and put it in another room!"
I'm a joker my self but this was obviously not a joking man. He then just walked away to help another customer. I followed him and told him that he was the rudest son of a dog I've ever dealt with in a computer store! I think he thought of him self as a guru and everyone who walks into the store doesn't know anything about computers. I told his manager but his manager didn't care much. BTW, the name of this store is Skytech Computers in Southfield. Give them crap if you ever walk in there.

<< lmao......... when they ask me "Can I help you?"..... I just say "No" and walk away.... >>

When they ask me for help I usually like to say: "No, thanks. I'm just here to break stuff."

It goes over really well for electronics and computer stores. 🙂

i like going into computer stores, deciding what i want, then walking out confidently and ordering up the same stuff from pricewatch for 100's of dollars cheaper. hehehe

Just bust a cap in dat man's ass... 😀

Wish that could happen everytime an idiot salesperson mistreats you.

Whenever something like this happens and the story is told here on AT, I think we should all just e-mail the business with the link to the post. I would like to see the look on their faces when they find out that their business practices have been posted for all 60,000+ members and lord knows how many non postings lurkers to see. I'm sure that would make them think twice about their service. The one thing I can't stand is arrogant computer salesmen who automatically assume they know more than you.

<<i like going into computer stores, deciding what i want, then walking out confidently and ordering up the same stuff from pricewatch for 100's of dollars cheaper. hehehe>>

No kidding, if only the general public knew about places like Pricewatch and Newegg, then the retail stores would be out of business.

im a sucky salesmen...but hell at least i know my stuff about computers
now those damned 4 and 5 in 1 fax machines i dunno all the features DAMN YOU PANASONIC AND HP why did you have to put so many features arrrgg *pulls at hair*

ok maybe its only cuz ive been there a week but well uh.....i keep trying to prevent myself from saying....you could find this product A) at site B) for X dollarscheaper or

try and restrain myself from laughing when people ask REALLY dumb questions....um which keyboard here would work with a dell?......"ummmm all of them...."

I can't shop in stores anymore. I feel like I have to cover my ass (with my hand lol) whenver I walk into computer stores, or god forbid, malls. I go to grocery stores and Wal-mart for stuff I absolutely need. I can ALWAYS find stuff cheaper (shipped) on the web. Ok, I do buy clothes locally as well.

i see SO many people come to get help from me (i do computer repair at my college) and the FIRST thing they say is "i'm dumb and don't know ANYTHING about computers"

I HATE THAT!

can you imagine what they must be like going into a computer store? a savvy salesman must eat them for breakfast!

it sux..i ALWAYS tell them not to go around telling people that, because they're gonna get taken advantage of

It's the same thing in big electronic stores like best buy..i hear people in there ALL THE TIME saying "i don't know anything about stereos" and you can just see the salesmen walking them towards the expensive stuff......

do your research so you don't get screwed!

i always go up to people that are being persuaded into buying a computer and tell them where they can get it for less.... and the same for other misc hardware.. tell them never get anything installed, just do it themself and how easy it is... then tell the worker how much better amd is then pentium and talk circles around them on specs...

The salesmen at Best Buy just crack me up...They say how the pentium 4 is so much better for internet crap, and how you need a real fast DVD drive, and a WHOPPING 128 megs of RAM! Woooh!

I just shake my head and walk away before I have to interrupt them in a very rude manner and make them feel like the asses they are 😛

Oh and I remember hearing a BB salesman persuading some guy to buy Norton personal firewall..which is like 30-50 bucks i think??? Anyways he was saying it was the best one and it's the one he uses at home and all this BS.....It's like..."Why are you paying for a freaking firewall???"

<< LMAO..... The Salesmen split when ever I Walk into local stores... I Like making them look bad. >>

Quite a life you lead there sir, may I shake your hand so I can experience the feeling of touching greatness?

At my local computer store, their staff consists of 3 guys. It's called Benetek and they'll all really cool. Pretty good prices too, they didn't have any good HSF's when I was in but he said that he'd order some if I told him what ones that I wanted/needed. Cheap ATX Tower Cases too 🙂

A couple of people at one of the better local computer shops (ComputerSurplusOutlet.com) used to know me by name and buying habits. Sort of disturbing now that I think of it. This was a couple years ago now. I stopped picking things up there regularly after they decided EDO and PC133 DIMMs were the same thing a couple times, and they managed to run out of socket heatsinks despite building systems. -shrug-

Sadly, the best place to buy hardware in Las Vegas seems to be CompUSA. I hope PCNut opens a retail shop soon. I'd pay more just for the convenience of being able to swing by a shop on the way to work and such.

Bah! You have reminded me of a local store here called cybertek. I haven't been there in a long time, (and will not be going back) but the place was really odd and peculiar. The business is in a messed up old building next to machine shop. Inside they had all these racks of computers they assembled from spare parts; all grungy looking. The main guy there was rude as well. The place just emanated sleaze. Ugh, I hate that.
