Terrible performance with Supcom2

I'm having some interesting performance drops in Supreme Commander 2, both online and offline. When I get into most any vs match after things get going (say 15-25mins) my SIM really starts taking hits, usually hovering around the -1 to -3 range. Teammates with poorer machines get better SIM, sometimes significantly better. Latency is never over 200msm usually sits 100-140ms.

Specs are:

AMD x4 640 @3.6ghz
Gigabyte MA770-UD3
8gb DDR2800
2x OCZ Solid2 SSD R0
GTX460 1gb 825/1900
Audigy sound card
Windows 7 64

All settings are on low or off, both 1920x1080 and 1650x1050 produce similar/same results. Even windowed at 1500-something has same SIM. Nothing is being throttled, CPU temps never gets above 44c, GPU sits comfy at 60c.

I am seriously at a loss, this should be more than enough to run supcom2 at low settings on a 4vs4 map with a SIM over 1. Every other game is no problem with everything set to high at 1920x1080: L4D2, WoT, Just Cause 2, etc....

Wondering if I should just wipe the machine and try a fresh Win7 install. Any help what it might be is appreciated, really don't want to re-install everything.

I recommend posting this at the gaspowered.com forums, someone there might be able to help. Your system looks easily good enough to handle SupCom2 and I know there have been a lot of simspeed improvements over FA.

Check your memory and CPU usage when your simspeed starts to drop. Alt-tab, open task manager and have a look. Might be an idea to do this when playing with bots rather than real humans.

EDIT: SupCom1 did have problems with soundcards, and sometimes especially creative soundcards. Try disabling your sound for one match and see what happens.

The Audigy was a recent addition from stock onboard sound, I had a lot of latency probelms until I installed it, likely there was some sort of conflict with the Realtek LAN and sound driver or something, this fixed it. Problem was both before and after I added the card, also had a SB Live in for a while with same SIM problems.

I will break out the spare monitor and watch the cpu/ram info next go-around, good idea :)

90% of the time when I've a PC game problem on a capable machine it has been sound card related. It's about time a new company came along and claimed the throne for PC gaming sound cards.

As luck would have it, woke up to network problems this morning, reboot and a corrupted Windows directory. Guess it's time to re-install, possibly send the ssd's back yet again for replacement.

How many ssd's have you gone through? Have you questioned if it could be something else like the SATA controller on the motherboard?

This will be the second set of Solid's, previous set was S1's these are S2's. I do on occasion think it may be the controller, or PSU. I changed out the pci-e controlelr I was using when the previous ssd's went thinking I might as well use onboard, no real change.

I believe I may be cursed.
