For the past few days I've been having terrible cramps while jogging, to the point where I have to stop moving. Each time it's been when I've gone in the afternoon, when before I would go first thing in the morning without eating or drinking anything.

Any suggestions on how to avoid this so I can actually run ?

Stomach cramps or muscle cramps?

Stomach cramps I don't have any experience with, so I don't have any suggestions there, but I find I can keep muscle cramps at bay by eating "Lite Salt" (50% potassium chloride). If I'm in a hurry some lite salt in a cup of water will make cramps stop within a minute.

Diaphragm cramps, TMK, can be solved by not taking many quick breaths, but slow deep ones.

Side stitches? I remember seeing a runners faq that helped me through them. Trying exhaling when your right foot hits the ground or reverse. Also, do lots of stretches, especially to your sides. This reminds me I should start running again.

Don't cross your arms over your body, take deep breaths, and make sure you're not running on a full stomach - in fact, empty is better.

They're in my stomach, either at the front or to the sides, it varies and sometimes switches like it did today. That is one thing I didn't do was any stomach stretches at all. Hmm..

You usually get cramps when you have food in your stomache and you exert yourself.
